Fiji: Water spout in water snake caused by water heater
Water spouts can cause a water snake to jump on you if you’re too close to the spout.
Fiji water authorities say the water spout at the Dolphin Square Hotel in West Fijian has caused the snake to leap into the water.
They say it was caused by a water heater and that it is not a water safety hazard.
The water heater was installed by the hotel owner and was not connected to the main water supply.
They’ve now issued an alert to all hotel guests and warned of the potential for water spouts to be a problem in the future.
Fijian Water says the water heater is not connected directly to the water supply and there is a temporary water supply at the hotel.
A spokeswoman for Fiji Water said the water temperature at the building is 30 degrees Celsius, and the water is flowing out through a filter system.
“It has been running for about a month and we have noticed no change in temperature,” the spokeswoman said.
“We are still assessing the water quality of the water, but no issues have been reported.”
Fiji Water has not yet responded to a request for comment from the ABC.
